FAQS

Dagorhir is a nation-wide organization of foam-fighting teams. You can find more information on the Dagorhir website.

Gestiguiste is a team of fighters in the Dagorhir organization. Dagorhir teams are geographically grouped into Realms – Gestiguiste is in the realm of Aratari, though we do have outposts outside of the realm.

There’s a couple of really easy, basic rules, but once you get into the details it can get pretty complicated. Here’s the whole freaking list of rules, if you’re curious.

Basically, there are several classes of weapons, and these classes are referred to by color. Depending on the weapon class you are hit with, if you get hit in an arm, you lose the arm and drop anything you were holding in that hand. If you get hit in the leg, you have to kneel. Once you lose another limb, you’re dead. If you ever get hit in the torso, you’re dead. Head shots are illegal.

There’s a lot more to it than that, but that’s enough to get you started.

No, you do not! We welcome non-combatants just as readily as fighters. You can still contribute in many ways- helping with camp setup and clean up, cooking, making garb and weapons, etc.

There are some tutorials on the Aratari website, and we’re happy to give you advice for your first weapons as well. Once you are a member of Gestiguiste, you can join us for regular group builds.

There are no membership fees, but you will need to purchase weapons and gear eventually, or the materials to make weapons and gear, as well as garb.

Aratari day battles are $5, and campouts cost between $10-20. Your first event is free.

Ragnarok is the biggest Dagorhir event of the year. Lasting one week, and held at Cooper’s Lake campground in Slippery Rock, PA, Ragnarok is the event every member of Dagorhir looks forward to all year. Fighters from all corners of the country travel to participate in the daily battles and festivities.

In a nutshell, yes. Weapons, shields, and armor are all checked before every battle and a mindset of safety is strongly encouraged.

Yes, you do! You can download a waiver here, sign it, and bring it to your first event. You don’t need it for your very first practice. However, anyone under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by an adult in order to participate in practices or battles.

You must be at least 16 years old in order to participate in battles.
